    Bottling Day

    Posted by Joseph Wilson in

    So I finished bottling the latest brew today. It was a much harder process than the previous beers I've brewed, mostly because I didn't filter it very well. Next time around I think I'll use a false bottom or something just to clarify the beer better and get rid of some of the stuff thats making it hazy. Or better yet I'll just buy a kegging system and just won't fool around with bottling anymore! The plan now is to wait a couple of weeks and let the brew carbonate and hopefully on December 12th our Chocolate Acai and Oatmeal Stouts will be ready to drink! Ok so its really late and I'm falling asleep on the keyboard so I'm off to bed, laters!

    Thanksgiving

    Posted by Joseph Wilson in ,

    I have so much to be thankful for this year. A family, home, food, work and most importantly a a great God and Savior. So in the spirit of thanksgiving I thought I'd share this reading from the Valley of Vision-

    " There is no blessing we implore but thou art able to give,hast promised to give, has t already given to countless multitudes, all unworthy and guilty like ourselves; Make us willing to receive the supply of our need from the bounty. To this end convince us of sin, soften our hard hearts, to bewail our folly, ingratitude, pride, unbelief, rebellion , corruption. Through the law may we die to the law, then look with wonder, submission, delight, to the provision thou hast made for the glory of thy Name in the salvation of sinners.

    Give us a hope that makes us not ashamed, a love that excites to holy obedience, a joy in thee that is our strength, a faith in thy Son who loved us and died for us. May we persevere in duty when not fully conscious of thee, wait upon thee and keep thy way, be humble and earnest suppliants at thy feet, live continually as on the brink of eternity. Let us be at thy disposal for the duties and events of life, submit, our preferences to thy wisdom and will, resign our enjoyments if thou shoudst require it as our absolute Proprietor and best Friend.

    In our unworthiness and provocations make us grateful for the means of grace and the ordinances of religion and teach us to profit them more than we have done. Help us to be in the Spirit on the Lord's Day, to enter the sabbath mindful of its solemnities, duties, privileges, setting all things wordly aside while we worship thee.

    May we know the blessedness of men whose strength is in thee, and in whose hearts are highways to heaven."

    Happy Thanksgiving everyone I hope that yours were blessed!

    Ok so I'm trying not to post to much of his stuff because I want to make sure there is some stuff left for ToT but this quote is really speaking to me...

    Were any of us asked seriously what
    it is that troubles us, we must refer it to one of these heads—either we want
    strength or power, vigor and life, in our obedience, in our walking with God;
    or we want peace, comfort, and consolation therein. Whatever it is that may
    befall a believer that does not belong to one of these two heads does not
    deserve to be mentioned in the days of our complaints.

    So Awesome and True!

    Theology On Tap

    Posted by Joseph Wilson in ,

    So after a lot of prayer I've decided I want to get serious about starting up a structured weekly meeting for ToT. For those of you who are not familiar with Theology on Tap, its basically a group of friends who get together and talk about theology and down a couple of brews in the process. The ones that I have been a part of have been very laid back and conversationally driven. My hope is to bring a little more structure and hopefully it will be more beneficial for our spiritual growth.

    To achieve this goal, I think the best plan of action is to go through a particular book, (hopefully the first one will be Mortification of Sin by John Owen) and actually start asking questions about particular subjects within the book instead of random stuff like "Were Nephilam really the result of angels impregnating women?"

    Also I don't want the focus to be just on beer either. The danger in doing something like this is making it an issue of flaunting spiritual freedoms, instead of spiritual growth. Just to be safe I don't think I'll open it up to the under 21ers but at the same time if you're not into beer I'm not going to say you can't come. The purpose here is spiritual growth and a good time!

    So if anyone is interested about getting this thing started with me let me know!

    "Do you mortify;
    do you make it your daily work;
    be always at it while you live;
    cease not a day from this work;
    be killing sin or it will be killing you...."

    Simply Awesome.

    More to Come.
