    Reformatting the Laptop

    Posted by Joseph Wilson in

So I've decided today that I'm cleaning out my laptop and I'm going to reinstall my operating system (probably dual boot xp and ubuntu) because there is way to much junk on it right now and I want to get rid of everything. Plus its good to do it every few months anyways.

Oh and tomorrow I'm off all day so I'm heading to Indy (my first time) with Bree so I'm really excited about that. Pictures will ensue I'm sure.

    Adventures in Sous Vide!

    Posted by Joseph Wilson in

So tonight I've decided to get serious about the whole sous-vide thing at home. What is sous-vide you ask? Well basically you take a air tight plastic bag, fill it with whatever you're making, and then cook it in a water bath at a very precise temp, like beef at 130 degrees. Although I'd love to be able to afford the polyscience Thermal Circulator, I've decided that the ole' crock pot will have to do for now. I'm still trying to figure out what to cook but I've narrowed it down either beef or pork, (if you can consider that narrowed down at all!)

So why cook this way? First off, its freakin' awesome. Secondly, this method allows anyone to cook anything to a desired temperature without fear of burning or under cooking it. Finally, its an amazing way to seal in specific marinades/juices because there is no where else for them to go.

I'll definitely try to get some recipe together and post some pics or video on how it goes!

    New Brew

Posted by Joseph Wilson in ,

So I cracked open my latest brew last night! I think its my favorite beer to date. The Yuzu (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yuzu) Ale was amazing. It has hints of grapefruit, lime, and surprisingly wood. I also tried my ginger beer and it good/ but not what I expected. This time around I used candied ginger. Its more subtle than fresh ginger and not as overpowering. Oddly enough our pumpkin ale tasted more gingery than this stuff.

Anyways, since I don't have a liquor license, I'm not able to sell any of the stuff. However, I am able to accept donations and would be willing to give away some bottles for a couple of bucks. If anyone is interested message/call me.

    Later!
